Management Committee - Torres Strait Youth and Recreational Sporting Association

The committee members of the TSY&RSA are committed to working together to achieve the TSY&RSA’s strategic goals and direction in order to effectively strengthen and support local indigenous communities through sports subsidies and healthy active community grants. 

TSY&RSA Management Committee

The TSY&RSA Management Committee members are volunteers.  They come from all walks of life with the shared goal of wanting to help the Torres Strait Youth and Recreational Sporting Association achieve its vision, mission and goals. 

The Management Committee of the TSY&RSA currently consists of 20 members from the following Torres Strait communities:

Benefits of Volunteering as a TSY&RSA Committee Member

Volunteering as a committee member for the TSY&RSA provides a rewarding opportunity and allows you to make a valuable contribution. 

Some of the benefits of serving on the TSY&RSA Management Committee include the chance to:

  • Contribute to the success and visibility of our organisation
  • Develop and implement the organisation’s strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures
  • Exchange information and ideas with your peers
  • Gain a greater understanding of budgeting and financial management processes
  • Be involved in the planning, promoting and managing of TSY&RSA events
  • Plan and attend other social, educational and networking events
And most importantly - be a voice for your local community!

Time Commitment of a TSY&RSA Committee Member

To serve as a TSY&RSA Committee Member, you will be required to attend four (4) quarterly board meetings and undertake some shared duties in between.

About Us

The TSY&RSA provides grant funding to individuals, sporting clubs, schools to increase levels of participation and representation of Indigenous people from within the Torres Strait to sports and recreation opportunities.

Through our sports and recreation initiatives, we are able to contribute to the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples in the region by helping them to overcome illness, boredom, crime, loneliness and mental health issues, all while increasing the overall wellbeing of the community.
